The Best Valentine’s Day Books for Toddlers
The Best Valentine’s Day Books for Toddlers (Our Family Favorites)
Valentine’s Day looks a lot different in the toddler years. Around here, it’s less about big plans and more about time together as a family. Around this time, I set out our Valentine’s Day themed books to read with our four year old and two year old.
These are our favorite Valentine’s Day books for toddlers - the ones we actually read, enjoy, and keep coming back to every February (and honestly, well beyond it).
Little Blue Truck’s Valentine
If your toddler already loves Little Blue Truck, this one is a no-brainer. The story focuses on friendship and the rhythm makes it an easy choice for little ones. It’s familiar, calming, and doesn’t feel overstimulating, which is always a win at the end of the day.
Bananas for You!
This is one of those books that just works for kids. The bright illustrations and playful story keep little readers interested, and it celebrates love in a fun, lighthearted way without feeling over-the-top. It’s a great Valentine’s Day book for toddlers who like something a little silly. Our four year old loves it!
Peekaboo Love
For younger toddlers with short attention spans, this one has been a favorite in our house. The interactive elements like the sliders, mirrors, and peekaboo flaps make it easier to stay engaged. My two year old always reaches for these peekaboo books.
Llama Llama I Love You
This book feels very true to real life. It talks about making valentine’s gifts for others and focuses on everyday moments of love between parents, caregivers, and friends. It’s a nice choice for winding down before bed when everyone needs a calmer pace.
If you’re looking for simple Valentine’s Day ideas for toddlers, books are one of the easiest places to start. No prep, no cleanup, and no pressure to make it perfect. Just a few quiet minutes together, which, in this season, feels like more than enough.
