Weight Requirements
The Solly Baby Wrap can be used for babies 8 to 25 pounds. I like using the wrap best during the newborn phase. Once baby gets a bit bigger I prefer a more structured wrap like the Wildbird Aerial carrier.
Material
I am extra careful with baby’s skin during the newborn phase — like to the point that I will rarely put pants on my baby because I feel they are too tight and rough on her belly and just stick with sleepers (and because sleepers are so easy to do diaper changes). The Solly wrap is great during the sensitive skin newborn days because the material is buttery soft against baby’s skin and I don’t have to worry about zippers, buckles, or seams rubbing against her face or body. The wrap is made of lightweight, sustainably sourced and biodegradable TENCEL™ Modal fabric. Because the material is lightweight it doesn’t get too hot while baby wearing, a common complaint from moms especially during the warmer weather seasons. The wrap is also lightweight enough to throw in your diaper bag and bring along with you.
Design
Another thing I love about the Solly wrap are the colors! Whether you’re into prints or solids, I think Solly has the cutest colors and design options that are neutral enough to go with anything. I have the ‘Highland Lace’ print. Check out all of the Solly Wrap designs here.
Putting on and Storing the Wrap
The wrap can be intimidating but it’s pretty quick when you get the hang of it. I will say, even as a mom who has put on the wrap numerous times it does still take a while and you will likely have a baby screaming at you while you are putting on the wrap, which will make it seem like it’s taking longer than it actually does. Solly Baby has a wrap tutorial you can watch to see how to put the wrap on and make sure that your baby is positioned right. It is very important to make sure your baby is positioned properly when wearing the wrap and feels secure against you.
The wrap is very long and you’ll want to learn how to store the wrap to easily throw in your diaper bag or the nursery drawer, otherwise the wrap will be a disorganized tangled mess. Watch my Solly Baby Wrap storage tutorial for storing the wrap. It will give you tidy and pretty storage.
Final Thoughts
The Solly Baby Wrap is a great option for a lightweight, soft baby carrier during the newborn phase. I do think the wrap can be intimidating at first, but once you practice using it a couple of times you will be able to put it on and take it off with ease. I trust Solly Baby as a company and love all of the products I’ve used.
