Wildbird Aerial Baby Carrier Review: Is It Worth the Hype?

Best lightweight baby carrier
I used the Wildbird Aerial carrier on our trip to Glacier National Park with my then 2 year old and 6 month old baby. It was HOT during our trip and I was able to hike multiple miles with my baby securely and comfortably in the carrier.

If you’re wondering, Is the Wildbird Aerial baby carrier worth the hype? or Is it worth the money? — for me the answer is, yes!
Here’s why:
Pros of the Wildbird Aerial Baby Carrier
1. Snug, Secure, and Adjustable Fit
My favorite thing about this carrier is how snug and sturdy it feels. Many baby carriers feel bulky on me, making it hard to get a secure fit for my baby. I don’t have that issue with the Wildbird Aerial.
The adjustable straps and waistband allow for a customized fit, and the cross-back strap design adds extra support. The carrier comes in two different sizes, which most carriers do not, making it a great option for different body types.
It’s worth noting that while Wildbird markets this carrier for 7 to 45 pound babies, it’s not my favorite carrier for newborns. I prefer a soft fabric carrier like the Solly wrap for the newborn stage so ensure baby is comfortable and super snug against you. You can read my Solly wrap review here. Wildbird makes a similar style carrier, the Aerial buckle wrap, that is for babies 7 to 15 pounds, so more geared for newborns. I have not tried it but I’ll let you know if I get my hands on one for my next baby!
2. Lightweight and Breathable
If you don’t have a baby yet, you may not realize how hot babywearing can get — especially if you’re breastfeeding or dealing with postpartum hormones.
That’s why I love the linen material option of the Wildbird Arial. It’s lightweight and breathable, making it one of the coolest baby carriers I’ve used, particularly in warm weather. This carrier made my list of is definitely one of those must have baby products for summer because of its breathability.
3. Beautiful, Neutral Colors
Wildbird offers tons of neutral and stylish colors, as well as some subtle patterns. If you love minimalist, aesthetic baby gear, you’ll love this carrier.
I have the Sparrow color and it goes with everything. I was initially worried that the light color might stain easily, but that hasn’t been an issue!

4. Hip-Healthy Design
A key factor in choosing a baby carrier is ensuring it supports healthy hip development. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure a safe, ergonomic fit.
Cons of the Wildbird Aerial Baby Carrier
1. Higher Price Point
The Wildbird Aerial is on the pricier side compared to other mid-tier carriers. However, value is subjective—if you plan to use it daily or for multiple children, it’s a solid investment. I will add, the more children you have, the more likely you will baby wear! Babywearing with my second baby allowed me to still get quality time playing with my toddler while still getting snuggles with my baby.
2. Does Not Allow for Forward-Facing Position
This isn’t usually an issue for younger babies, but as your baby grows, they may prefer to face outward to see the world. Unfortunately, the Wildbird Aerial does not offer a forward-facing carry option, which is its biggest drawback in my opinion.

I’d go with the linen to accommodate for warmer weather unless you live in a place that is consistently cold. If you are living in chillier climate or traveling somewhere cold with you baby, you can always layer your baby with a jacket or blanket and keep baby comfortable with other cold weather baby essentials.

One major perk is that the Wildbird Aerial is machine washable! You can throw it in the gentle cycle, which is a lifesaver for busy new moms.

The Wildbird Aerial comes in two sizes, making it adjustable for different body types. This ensures you can get a snug, supportive fit regardless of your size.
Comfort & Support
The cross-back strap design provides excellent support compared to some other carriers that use backpack-style straps with a buckle.
The shoulder straps and waistband are padded, making it more comfortable for extended wear.
It’s also easy to put on by yourself, which is a huge plus for solo outings with your baby.

The Mabē Monarch carrier is another minimalist, breathable option, similar in structure to the Wildbird but includes a forward‑facing seat position. If that feature is key for you, consider giving it a try. I own both the Wildbird and Mabē and I like both for different reasons. For me, Wildbird wins on lightweight summer wear and streamlined support. Mabē gets the vote for older babies who love to see outward during walks or grocery runs.

If you love the look and feel of the Wildbird Aerial but aren’t sure about spending nearly $200 on a baby carrier, there are a few similar options worth considering depending on your budget. The biggest differences tend to come down to fabric, structure, adjustability, and overall feel during longer wears.

The budget-friendly option. You lose some of the luxury details and styling, but if your priority is simply having a supportive structured carrier without the premium price tag, Momcozy gives you a lot of functionality for significantly less.

My Favorite Setup for Outings with Multiple Kids
One thing I didn’t expect after having a second and then third baby was how often I’d use both a carrier and stroller. For everyday play and outings, I usually wear my baby in the carrier so I have my hands-free to help them or play with them.
For day trips, longer walks, airports, or travel, I prefer to bring along a double or triple stroller to make our outings as smooth as possible. If you’re looking for a comfortable, breathable, and stylish baby carrier, the Wildbird Aerial is a fantastic option. While it doesn’t allow for forward-facing carry and comes at a higher price, its comfort, adjustability, and high-quality materials make it worth considering, especially if you plan to use it often or for multiple children.
If you’re set on having a front-facing option, I recommend looking into the Mabē Monarch carrier (another option that is becoming increasingly popular).
