what to add to your baby registry for baby 6 to 12 months old.

One of the biggest mistakes I see first time moms make when building their baby registry is not focusing on adding baby products that grow with their family. A lot of baby products you only use for the first six months or so of your baby’s life, which is wild! I think sometimes as new moms we get caught up in the newborn things like the DockATot, bassinet, and swaddles. And it’s totally fine because you’ll need those things too, but I do think it’s important to be mindful that babies grow out of these things super fast and before you know it, you, you’ll be transitioning out of the swaddle into a sleep sack or moving your baby from the bassinet to a crib.

What products should I add to my baby registry for an older baby over 6 months?

When creating your baby registry, be sure to consider products you’ll need not just for the first few months of your baby’s life, but also for when your baby is a bit older, over 6 months and even into the toddler stage. By the way, if you’re considering starting your baby registry or are in the middle of building your registry, be sure to grab my Baby Registry Checklist, which has everything you’ll need for baby during that first year. No frantic runs to the grocery store or waiting two days for your Amazon Prime package to show up - you’ll be prepped and ready for everything that first year with baby brings.

Here are the items you should add to your baby registry that you’ll use for your baby once they are a bit older and out of the newborn stage.

Feeding

  • High Chair

  • Booster Seat

  • Silicone Spoons

  • Utensil Training Set

  • Toddler Silverware

  • Suction Plates

  • Suction Bowls

  • Sippy Cups

  • Reusable Food Pouches

  • Baby Food Storage Containers

  • Snack Containers

  • Baby Food Feeder

Bathing & Health

  • Bath Toys

  • Sit Up Seat for the Bath - we originally only had the baby bath seat for under 6 months, but when we saw our baby wanted to roll out of the infant seat but wasn’t ready to sit up in the bath tub by herself yet, we purchased this bath sit up seat for 6+ months out of extra precaution.

  • Silicone Baby Toothbrush

  • Baby Safe Toothpaste

Activity & Gear

  • Stroller Attachment that grows with your baby - be sure to check out your stroller’s age and weight requirements and add all necessary attachments to your baby registry that will allow your stroller to be used all the way from the infant to toddler stage.

  • Sit Me Up Seat

  • Activity Center / Jumper / Walker

  • Structured Baby Carrier for Older Baby

Sleep

  • Sleep Sack

  • Crib / Crib Mattress / Crib Sheets (If using a bassinet from the start. You can also start your baby in the crib. It’s whatever you prefer!)

What products will last from the baby stage through the toddler stage?

A few of the products mentioned above will last through the toddler stage but not all. We are still using our silicone plates and bowls, toddler silverware, and reusable food pouches with our 2.5 year old. We are also using the same Mockingbird stroller we used with her when she was an infant, although now we have added the 2nd seat kid so we can take both her and her 8 month old sister on walks together. We’ve used our Keekaroo changing pad for a long long time and it still looks nearly good as new. It’s one of our all time favorite baby products we purchased!
